o a short bibliography for each session, including relevant website addresses
o photocopiable worksheets and authentic resources
* increased confidence in their own linguistic ability
* a network of new contacts in English language teaching

Methodology In each methodology session the tutor will facilitate an awareness raising activity, followed by a discussion in which participants discuss and compare their teaching experience of the subject. The tutor will present various practical and creative teaching techniques for young adult and adult learners based on a range of teaching methodologies and recent research into English as a foreign language acquisition.
Teachers will try out these techniques and, in feedback, discuss their appropriacy (with any necessary adaptation) to their own teaching situations. In particular, the tutor will present strategies for encouraging communication, motivating students, managing large and/or mixed ability classes effectively, error correction and follow-up activities.
In each language improvement session, the tutor will demonstrate, through loop input, how teachers can improve and update their students’ grammar, lexis and pronunciation.
In all sessions the tutor will indicate recently published elt materials for further reading and/or classroom activities, also online and offline resources for further research and/or cultural background.
Follow-up All participants will be required to fill in a course evaluation questionnaire. Internet access will also be provided so that participants can in-put their feedback directly to the European Commission.
All participants will receive a contact list of their course tutors (including email addresses) and course colleagues. On most courses this will also include details of other contacts made during that particular course, such as editors, headteachers, publishers and guest tutors.
Participants will be invited to join the Lake School of English wiki for teachers of English. The course director (with course attendees) will arrange an initial online self-evaluation task. Further online tasks will take place as required. On the wiki, teachers will also be invited to create and edit pages. Those participants without Internet access will be invited to correspond by letter if they wish.
